ARGILETUM a Roma Tre: esposizione in AR - Metagate

ARGILETUM at Roma Tre: exhibition in Augmented Reality

spotify-metagate

On May 15, 2023, we collaborated on the creation of an AR (Augmented Reality) installation at theUniversity of Rome Tre (Department of Architecture), titled ARGILETUM: a journey from the layers of the past to the metaverse! It is a mixed reality experience that unfolds between the metaverse of Sopra la Realtà and the historical reality of the arches of the cloister of the University of Rome Tre.

The exhibition, conceived on the occasion of the workshop "LANDSCAPE AND SPATIAL LAYERS IN WEB 3.0 - Art, architecture, and new forms of interaction for the PhD in Architecture City Landscape", aimed to represent the concept of historical and spatial layering.

This environment hosts the NFT works of the artists Emanuele Dascanio e Matteo Mauro. The protagonists in these works are the quantum computers of Kipu Quantum technologies, the A.I., low-poly modeling and sculpting with "digital clay". The transition to the second level of the exhibition animates the same digital architecture that honors the real setting.

The second space is animated by a collective of emerging artists, very different from each other stylistically but all playing with the courtyard space in which they have been placed. In particular, we find works by:

1. Matteo Mandelli (YOU)

2. Marcello Baldari (MARS)

3. Fabiola Sangineto

4. Francesco Scura (DVRK)

This exhibition represents an important precedent that demonstrates how art and architecture can be fused and enhanced through a digital layer in Augmented Reality. Furthermore, it is worth emphasizing the relative simplicity of installation without impractical screens that are often insufficient to enhance the new digital works. Similarly, the inclusion of gamification in the exhibition creates a flow of experiences that encourages visitors to interact with most of the works. The works themselves can then benefit from direct links to the artists' pages or even be presented by the artists' own NPC avatars (potentially in AI).

The opportunities on both the UX side and cost-saving for setup are evident and will be further enhanced by the new generation of headsets that have recently arrived on the market, starting with Apple's #VisionPRO (which already feature portability for apps based on #Unity like #OVER).

The entire work saw the collaboration of:

Metabrera: that held the artistic curatorial part

FLO: that contributed to the design of the architectural structure
