For the Milan Design Week 2024, as Metagate we have developed 2 parallel experiences in augmented reality accessible from smartphones and headsets, in collaboration with Yasmine Mahmoudieh at the Lampo.
In particular:
The smartphone experience has been created on the platform of Over the RealityThe phygital experience aims to enhance the artist's narrative, who has used recycled plastic printed in 3D for their creations. In AR on Over, the lack of physical limitations was exploited to position a giant 3-meter chair. Additionally, a water mirror was included, on which some plastic bottles float; by clicking on the bottles, they transform into the artist's works. Finally, an additional interaction allows users to "flood" the space digitally, with the water mirror expanding and filling the room (thanks to "occlusion" technology) to evoke the underlying risk of rising oceans.
For those who would like to try the headset (Meta Quest 3), there will also be one available on-site, and it will be possible to manipulate the design object: moving it, changing its color, and enlarging it using only your hands (no controllers)!!
