Ray-Ban Display e Oakley Meta Vanguard: gli AI Glasses di Meta anticipano la Realtà Mista del futuro

Ray-Ban Display and Oakley Meta Vanguard: Meta’s AI Glasses Anticipate the Future of Mixed Reality

On September 18, 2025, Meta officially unveiled the new generation of smart glasses: a step forward that redefines the relationship between wearables, artificial intelligence, and augmented reality. Not just new functions, but a paradigm shift in human-machine interaction.

👓 Ray-Ban Display: smart glasses with integrated screen

The most innovative model is Ray-Ban Display: glasses with a high-resolution color display in the right lens. They offer quick and discreet interactions with WhatsApp notifications, maps, real-time translations, and step-by-step assistance — only when needed.

Accompanying them is the Meta Neural Band, an EMG bracelet that reads hand muscle signals: a small gesture to scroll messages, reply, or adjust volume. An invisible interface that reduces dependence on the smartphone.

  • US Price: $799

  • Availability in Italy: early 2026

🏃 Oakley Meta Vanguard: AI and outdoor performance

Designed for athletes, the Oakley Meta Vanguard combine a durable design (IP67), 12 MP camera, and integrated AI with apps like Garmin and Strava. Ideal for extreme sports and performance on the move, they automatically record key moments of outdoor workouts.

  • Price: $499

  • Battery life: up to 9 hours

🌍 An ecosystem beyond the smartphone

According to many analysts, these smart glasses represent Meta’s most concrete attempt to turn AI into a constantly active personal assistant, capable of replacing many phone functions. From voice commands to accessibility uses, the impact is both technological and social.

But challenges remain: price, privacy, competition. Meta must prove that wearable AI is not just a futuristic gadget, but a real value for daily use.

🇮🇹 What changes for Italy

  • Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 and Oakley Meta without display are already available in Italy with Meta AI voice commands.

  • Since March 2025, Meta AI has also been active in WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram in Italian.

  • The Ray-Ban Display with screen will arrive in 2026.

🧠 A look from Metagate: mixed reality, AI, and new possibilities

As Metagate, we see in these AI Glasses an opportunity to integrate our Mixed Reality experiences, currently developed on Meta Quest 3, into an even more accessible and natural ecosystem.

The idea of combining smart glasses, EMG gestures, and tools like n8n for AI agents opens the door to a new generation of immersive experiences: fluid, contextual, distributed in real space.

We are building the bridge between wearables and Mixed Reality headsets: the goal is a system where smart glasses handle everything that today is only possible on a headset. The direction is clear: Meta is moving towards the XR glasses of the future, and we are ready to imagine their uses.

🚀 Metagate and Mixed Reality on Meta Quest 3

From our lab, we continue to develop Mixed Reality experiences with Meta Quest 3, combining AI, IoT, Blockchain, and no-code design. Our goal is to make Mixed Reality accessible, scalable, and natural.

With platforms like OpenGate XR, apps like MyPetXR, and increasingly advanced integrations, we are already working to turn the AI Glasses of the future into immersive and concrete tools.
