Metagate brings Mixed Reality to hyperrealist art: the unique experience with Emanuele Dascanio in Dubai
We are proud to have worked with Emanuele Dascanio, one of the most renowned hyperrealist artists in the world, for a pioneering exhibition held at the luxury Indigo hotel in Dubai. On this occasion, Metagate brought its expertise in Mixed Reality, integrating Dascanio's physical art with an immersive and digital experience, created through the Meta Quest 3 headsets.
The exhibition marked one of the first experiments in the world where the physical and digital artworks of Dascanio were displayed in Mixed Reality with an enhancing setting. This combination created an unprecedented "phygital" experience, where the real and the virtual merge, offering visitors a new way to interact with art.
Thanks to the immersive capabilities of Mixed Reality, made possible by the Meta Quest 3 headsets, visitors were able to experience a unique interaction with the artworks through hand-tracking without the use of controllers. Visitors could thus both extend their own gallery and pass through a portal to activate the starry sky!
This event is a concrete example of how Mixed Reality can revolutionize the art world, making it more accessible and engaging.
Emanuele Dascanio: a master of hyperrealism who explores new digital horizons
Born in Garbagnate Milanese in 1983, Emanuele Dascanio attended the Lucio Fontana Artistic High School in Arese, and then enrolled in the Brera Academy in 2003. Disappointed by the academic environment that he considered decadent, he left the Academy after six months, driven by the desire for a more authentic artistic growth. In 2007, he studied and worked in the atelier of Gianluca Corona, a student of the master Mario Donizetti, where he learned the oil painting techniques passed down from the Renaissance.
Dascanio has participated in numerous national and international exhibitions and competitions, always receiving high-level recognition. He dedicates a large part of his time to studying artistic techniques and the continuous pursuit of improving his expressive abilities. His works are part of private collections in Italy and abroad, and today he is recognized as one of the leading interpreters of hyperrealism worldwide.
We want to thank Emanuele Dascanio for giving us the opportunity to be part of this artistic and technological revolution, and to all those who made this event special. This exhibition represents only the beginning of what is possible when art and technology meet, and we at Metagate look forward to further exploring these new frontiers.
